Walter McPherson Bayne (1795-1859)

Bayne was born in England and moved to the United States about 1840.  He painted both landscapes and panoramas.  His panorama of a voyage to Europe was shown in Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, Charleston, and St. Louis between 1847 and 1856.  He also painted scenes of the White Mountains (see below).

While living in Boston in the 1840's he exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum (1837-1846)In 1843 he exhibited a painting entitled Ammonoosic [sic] Falls, Near the Whitem Mountains at Harding's Gallery in Boston.  He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1848.
