Thomas Hiram Hotchkiss (c.1834-1869)Thomas Hiram Hotchkiss first exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1857 and was elected an associate member in 1860. He was a friend of Asher B. Durand and John Rollin Tilton. His first documented trip to the White Mountains was recorded in the December 1856 Crayon. "Mr. Hotchkiss has ... a number of rich foreground material of the Saco River." He visited the White Mountains again in 1857 and 1858. His career was cut short by his death from tuberculosis at about age 35. His works have been preserved at the New York Historical Society. References
