Nicholas Biddle Kittell (1822-1894)Groce and Wallace listed Nicholas Biddle Kittell as a landscape as well as a portrait artist. He first exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1847, giving his address as Norwich, NY. He continued to exhibit at the National Academy of Design during the period 1857 to 1891. He exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association during the period 1860 to 1881. From 1861 to 1891, he lived in New York City. He visited Benjamin Champney in the White Mountains frequently from 1878 to 1887, often signing Champney's guest book, and is believed to have been a student or friend of the well-known artist. Kittell died in New York City on June 25, 1894. His name sometimes appears as "Kettell."Signature Example References
