Edwin Gannell Burgum (1858-1948)Edwin, like his father John, was an ornamental painter for the Abbot-Downing Co. He was born in Concord and died there. He also decorated vehicles for the Concord Carriage Co., Union Carriage Co., and Boston & Maine Railroad. He also painted furniture and signs, and later took up photography. His middle name is from his mother Emma Gannell Burgum, the adopted daughter of Sarah Thompson, Countess Rumford. He inherited much of the personal property of the Countess, then passed it on to his son Edwin Berry Burgum, who placed it on "permanent loan" at New Hampshire Historical Society in 1946. This loan also includes a number of paintings and sketches by John Burgum, examples of Edwin G. Burgum's signs and decorative painting, and the Burgum Family Papers.
