Catherine Scollay (1783-1863)

Catherine Scollay was born in Boston, MA in 1783 and died in 1863.

Scollay exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum from 1827 to 1848.  A landscape and figure painter, she produced a series of Trenton Falls, Utica, NY, which were lithographed by the Boston firm of John B. Pendleton.

In 1837, Scollay exhibited the first know painting of The Old Man at the Boston Athenaeum titled Old Man of the Mountains.
